Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
https://www.theguardian.com/football/valencia

"Valencia continued their excellent start to the La Liga season by beating Real Betis 6-3 away, rising to second in the table. Valencia risked throwing away the win when they let in three goals in five minutes but they seized all the points with an 88th-minute strike from their top scorer, Simone Zaza, who claimed his seventh goal of the campaign."

7 in 8!

Is this another Mascherano thing?

Re: Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
He can score 30 this season doesnt change the fact that every time he played for us he was utter dogshit and looked like he didnt want to be there

Whether or not that was down to the staff is the big question

Re: Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
More likely that he just wasn't suited to English football. It happens.

Still remember that shot on goal that went out for a throw in

He had ample opportunity and was shit!

No one else to blame.

Maybe Valencia have a decent manager.

Players play better for some clubs than others regardless of what talent they have. He's probably more settled and just feels better about himself. But you have to judge on what he did for us not what he is doing for them. And what he did for us was comparable to a lump of badger shit.

Re: Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
His father recently blamed his poor form for us on Zaza still thinking about his penalty miss as the Euros, the weather and the team formation.

I'm not sure what formation you have to play to persuade a player to put in a decent shift and occasionally get a shot on target, but apparently not any of the ones we put him in.....

Re: Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
He was shit, but also clearly came into a toxic situation at West Ham with a team in disarray and in no way set up for a new signing to flourish. Not exactly a recipe for success.

Strangest player of all time for me.
In a west ham shirt I wondered if he had actually played professional football before? It was bizarre.

When he'd played for Juventus and now Valencia he actually looked like a proper professional striker.

I have no idea what happened. Just so strange.

Re: Valencia, ZaZa.. talk to me
It's fucking ridiculous that the only goal he scored at the LS was against us for Juventus.

Form and ability are different things.

Very good player in leagues that aren't 100 miles an hour throughout,.

Not suited to English football and was awful for us, though some of the football we played at the beginning of last season might have made any fucker struggle up front.

Must be nice for him to play in something resembling a football stadium...

Not just us this happens to, remember Diego Forlan. Shite here and mustard in Spain.

Christ some players don't even have to change leagues to have completely polar opposite performances.

Torres for Liverpool was great and became a totally different players once driving south down the M1.

Torres was bizarre. Looked a world beater at Liverpool but just fell apart. Falcao as well just didn't adapt to English football but has been knocking them in again on the continent.

Falcao
Shevchenko

Happens all over. Loads more examples.

Freddi Kanouté was similar to Forlan. Averaged about 10 goals a season in 5 years for us and Spurs and then more than double that at Sevilla.

His Dad blamed the weather? I'm pretty sure that it was sweltering in the stadium for pretty much every game through to October.
